Hip Hop Flip Flop.....HOPE

Wednesday, October 27, 2010

Hello Hip Hoppers! It's time for another Unity/Ippity Flip Flop! This week we are honoring National Breast Cancer Awareness month. I am happy to share with you all that I am a survivor! Diagnosed with Ewing's Sarcoma at the age of 35 was quite a shock since it's Pediatric form of bone cancer that affects children ages 5-18. Thankfully I had a fantastic surgeon and supportive family and boyfriend (now husband). It's been 5 years now that I've been cancer free. For all those who have loved ones or friends battling this disease, you are not alone. Never give up hope that we will find a cure.

I scrapped this layout with some of the flower images from Ippity's Now & Always set and the Cute as a Button collection from My Little Shoebox. I have hope that we will find a cure and that I am hopeful that my children will not be touched by cancer in their lifetime. The Hope die cut is from the Wall Decor and More cart and my Cricut Expression.

There's big things happening at Unity today. Go there and check it all out! Visit the UNITY website here to start the Flip Flop Hip Hop! And.....Unity has a brand new Co-Brand!

I am SO excited! I love love love Jillibean Soup!

Look at these sets! Aren't they ADORABLE! They go perfectly with christmas chestnut soup on kraft collection!!

Now Hop on over to Brooke's place where she never stops believing!

A quick Monday night challenge

Monday, October 25, 2010

Hey friends! I'm posting a quick Moxie Fab challenge card I created for the Perfectly Paced Pleats challenge.
I was checking Facebook and saw the post about having a few hours of course I am in Pacific time but the announcement baited me in so...

Here's my entry...

I was feeling a bit girly tonight and created this Bride's card with some lovely flocked cardstock from Anna Griffin. I used crepe paper for my pleating technique that I used to frame the dress form die cut (love this die cut by the way!) I created from the Wall Decor and More Cricut cartridge.
The tulle skirt was misted with Glimmer mist but did not show up as much as I would like...note to self maybe add some bling???
I decided to go with the lovely orange colored rose for PaperCrafts editor Susan Opel's love of the color orange!
So that's my card....MOXIE FAB isn't it!

Thank you for making the Unity Hip Hop part of your day!! I am also Thankful to be a part of this amazing team of designers! These girls are so talented and wonderful to work with!

For my project this week I created these tags for each one of my family members to fill out during our Thanksgiving dinner this year.

Unity's newest scrapbook set Grateful You has the perfect image for my tag!

and I used one of the leaves from Simple Blessings set

Here's a close look at the tags. I used the Cricut Thanksgiving cart for the leaves and cut them at 4" with double dot Bazzill paper. Now my family can easily fill in what they have gratitude for in the Unity journal image. It's my hope that they will save them as bookmarks that will serve as a reminder of their lists all year long!

Welcome to Paper Secrets Spooky Blog Haunt

Friday, October 15, 2010

Welcome to the Paper Secrets Spooky Blog Haunt! You should be arriving from Kristi's blog! Today I'm going to share some hybrid projects I created using this fabulous digital Halloween kit, Not So Frightful available at Two Peas from Jen Martakis.

I created this cute tag and goodie box using elements from this adorable and fun digital kit!

And this treat box was made from a recycle flower container. I love to reuse and recycle things when I can.

One of the best things about digital kits is that you can purchase them online and download them immediately. Then use your printer to print out your own images and create! It's that simple and super fun!!!

Remember to leave a comment on all 31 blog posts for your chance to win 1 of the 3 treats Paper Secrets is giving away.

Now it's onto Stacy's Blog!!!

The Unity and Ippity design teams giving you some good ol' Unity Halloween fun for today's Hip Hop! I love Halloween! It's so fun to decorate the house and plan costumes for my kids. I also love to create treats to give away to the Trick or Treaters who come to our door. For today's Treat I used the Cindy Loo cartridge to cut the cute box with some Halloween themed My Mind's Eye paper. Then I added some festive pipe cleaners, ribbon and the Happy Halloween stamp from the September KOTM! Super easy and FUN!

Feels like I'm fallin for Fall...

Monday, October 11, 2010

I love the holidays...it kicks off in my house with Halloween and Fall decor and leads up to Christmas. My family also loves that I decorate and this year especially Lily. Last night I was getting out my Halloween decor and she was diving into my containers excited to play with all the goodies I had in there. Too bad many things are breakable and I had to put those out of reach from little hands.
Here's a peek of my fall decor I created with Imaginisce's Apple Cider line

I've shown the birdhouse and frame but the altered pumpkin is my latest project.
Here's a close up of my pumpkin and tip...to save time on altered wood projects use Ranger Distress Inks to add a distressed look instead of training.

I also created this quick card with Imaginisce's Apple Cider and the Straight from the Nest cart from Cricut that was given to the DT from Prove Craft. I love my Cricut Expression. I can whip up just about any project in minutes!

And last but not least...a big announcement from Imaginisce! Head over to the Imaginisce  blog  today and leave a comment for Lori! She was asked to attend the Cricut Swarm event and came home with a couple of Gypsys for you to win! Wow! A Gypsy for free? Seriously! Go leave a comment and tell her I sent ya!!

Happy Fall!

Hip Hop Unity friends! This little girl makes me swoon. She is sooo funny. You don't have to tell me twice that I am a lucky mom! Both my kids fill my heart with more joy than I can handle at times. For this wee's Hip Hip layout her are some pics I snapped of my little cutie on a recent family walk to the beach. We love our Sunday eve walks along the Manhattan Beach strand. Family time..isn't it the best!

For this week I mixed it up with some October Afternoon and a mix of the 3 scrapbooking sets Angela is featuring this week on sale!

I made the butterfly embellishments with some Shrink Film from Grafix! Remember the video I did a few weeks ago about that? Yep I am lovin that stuff!
