Hip Hop...It's Spring

Wednesday, March 30, 2011

Hip Hop Hello! Thanks for stopping by today! I love that spring is finally in the air here. We spent a lovely day outside in the sunshine today and Lily must have picked a dozen flowers on her way home from the park.

We are Hip Hoppin and creating with Unity rubbah today! Make sure you start your hop at the Unity blog here so you don't miss out on any of the designer's blogs and of course any Unity news that Angela has for you.
I can't believe that March is almost over...and it's almost time for a new Unity KOTM! Well I am still loving March's kit so I created a layout with some of my favorite images from this fabulous kit! Here's a look at the kit

And here's my layout

Just Married

Supplies: Patterened Paper & stickers: Crate Paper, Stamped images: Unity March KOTM, Stickers: Anna Griffin, America Crafts, Bling: Imaginisce i-rock and gems.

For my layout I created my own pattern paper with the two butterfly images and two different colors of ink. I love love the Mr. and Mrs. stamp so that was a perfect touch for this layout. I've been trying to scrapbook more of my wedding photos and this was a perfect fit!

Now I will send you over to the lovely Brooke who I know has created something fabulous today...

MLS Farewell Blog Hop

Monday, March 28, 2011

Hello! Thanks for stopping by my blog on our Farewell hop today. I've really enjoyed being a part of the MLS Design Team this term. When Helen brought me on board last year to handle her social media and marketing I was really excited to be working with her and even more excited that I would ave the chance to work with her products!
My Little Shoebox collections are fun and whimsical. I love really creating with them but most of all I loved creating alongside these talented ladies. I have also enjoyed posting their work to the MLS blog and being inspired by their stand out talent. I will miss everyone but it's so nice knowing that in this industry our paths with continue to cross. I'm sure of that!
So today I'd like to share a few projects I created for March's assignments. First I some layouts with Garden Party

I cut the butterflies with my Slice and then I sewed them together to create the 3D look. Then I used the butterfly trail from the Garden Party clear stamp set to give them flight.

For this card I created I embossed white cardstock and layered it on white cardstock (love that by the way) then I added one of our punch out tags and some flowers I cut with my Cricut and topped them with coordinating Garden Party pattern paper brad daddies made with my i-top!

For this layout I also used some flowers cut with my Cricut Expression and the Sweet Treats cart and layered them on the same color cardstock to create a dimensional background and kept the rest simple.

That's all I have for you today! Now head on over to Susan Dupre's blog to see what beautiful creations she has for you!

Whew it's been a busy week for crafting!

Friday, March 25, 2011

Hello Friday! What are your plans for the weekend? We're celebrating my birthday (the 22nd) my sister in laws (the 23rd ) and my mother in law's (April 5) this weekend. Saturday I have been invited to a crop with some friends and Sunday Scott has a soccer game. Let's hope it does not rain. It's going to be busy around our home.
It's been a busy week for me craft wise with many deadlines but I have a few things to share with you today.

First, My Little Shoebox has a March sketch challenge going on and you can win some fun goodies from us so pop on over to this post to find out how you can create with us!

I gave you a sneak peek of my sketch last week and now you get the whole reveal!

I used our Garden Party collection to create this layout.

For the Butterflies I used my Slice and layered two different butterfly images and then I sewed them together with my sewing machine. Then I layered our journaling tag and added some buttons to finish my take on Aphra's sketch.

I've also been working on some cards for Anna Griffin's upcoming HSN show. I can't show you those images just yet but I do have a few cards I created with the new Carmen and Willow collections that debuted at Winter CHA to share

And here are a few from Willow

And I'll leave you today with a sneak peek from the new April kit from Paper Posies that will be revealed very soon!

My family and I went out to Johnny Rockets for my birthday Tuesday and I had hubby snap a pic of Scott and I. I scrap so many Lily pics but not as many of my son. It's just so easy to scrap girls but I am really going to try to get more Scott layouts done too. He's not big on letting me photograph him tho so we'll have to work on that. Ugh the rain ruined my hair that night...lol

Monday we are having a farewell blog hop for the My Little Shoebox team as we say goodbye to this terms design team and I have some fun stuff coming from Imaginisce so make sure you sign up to follow my blog. You don't want to miss out on some upcoming giveaways I'll be having! Thanks for making me part of your day! Have a great weekend!

Hip Hop and another year older

Thursday, March 24, 2011

Hello friends! Thanks for hoppin by my blog today. There are changes coming to Unity. Good changes. Head over to the Unity Blog to see what Angela has posted today if you found your way here other than on the Hip Hop. You'll be inspired, I promise. Today's post is the kind of post I love from Angela. She opens her heart and let's it all out and there is wisdom to share and love. It's perfect! Go see :)

I have something personal of my own I want to share today. I turned another year older this week and I feel powerful. I really want to share this with my friends who are younger. I want to help you realized what took me so very long to realize. I want you to know that you are special. You are brave and you CAN fly!
I say this because FINALLY at 41 I truly believe that. I FINALLY feel totally and completely comfortable in my skin, just the way I am right now. It's not ideally what I want for myself physically speaking but I look in the mirror and like what I see because I see my SOUL. I finally feel something I have not felt since I was 20. ACCEPTANCE and LOVE of MYSELF.

How did I get here? I found my passion...I found ART and it CHANGED me. And that is BEAUTIFUL. I don't worry of people like me, I am confident in who I am as a woman, mother and wife. I don't have to try so hard to feel accepted. I finally understand that the only person that has to accept me is myself.

I am sharing this with you because it brings me a sense of peace I have not felt in so long and I want you to find that same peace if you haven't yet. I hope you can find something that sets you free from all the things that have held you back in your life. I held myself back for so long because my soul was broken. I tried so hard to believe that I was worthy of so many things but I could not break free of my hurts, disappointments and anger.
I do not want to spend another year of my life with my soul in a cage. I finally figured out how to open the door and fly away. It feels SO good to FLY!

So today for Hip Hop I am sharing a layout I scrapped about how my art makes me feel.
For my layout I used paper from GCD Studios Soul Food and Marah Johnson's stamp set Art&Soul and I shared a few of my recent Unity stamps I have created with.

Home is Where the Heart is Blog Hop

Saturday, March 19, 2011

Hello friends! Today Unity Stamp Co is proudly sponsoring an inspirational blog hop called Home is Where the Heart is. There are 15 talented ladies that have created beautiful projects to inspire you with our theme. I hope you have enjoyed each person's blog on your journey since we are almost to the end.

For my project I used Unity's Aloha Itty Bitty to create a layout about our family vacation place, Kauai.

We visit the island every other year with our family and hubby and I were married there too! It's our home away from home and a very special place for us. The Aloha stamp is perfect for any tropical vacation photos you might have to scrap.
This stamp is so versatile that I even used it to create some save the dates for my hubby's cousin who is having a tropical themed baby shower this summer.

If you are just dropping by you can go back to Jess's blog and start the Hop. There you will find out how you can win some amazing prizes sponsored by Unity Stamp Co.  Below is a list of the order.

Designing with Garden Party

Friday, March 18, 2011

Hello friends! It's been a crazy week for me and I am looking forward to the weekend for sure. I'll be cropping it up at Michaels with my crop ladies on Saturday and I am looking forward to some time away from the house.
Lily and I have been home since Weds because we decided to make a switch to Uverse with AT&T and they've been having issues trying to connect our service. I've had internet outages and all kinds of shenanigans to deal with but hopefully today they will be able to get it fixed with no further issues.
Today I am sharing some more of my CHA work for My Little Shoebox. I had fun creating with our Garden Party collection! First a few layouts

Smile

A view of the City

Now some cards

I love that Helen included sentiments in her stamps this collection! So fun to create with

Thanks for stopping by today! I hope you have a great weekend. I know the Carson Stamp show is tmr but I am not sure I'll be going this time around. I've heard great things about it from friends tho so we'll just have to see. Enjoy your weekend friends.

Creating a Background

For this week's project I used the ticket stub image from February's KOTM and the stars from Here's the Ticket to scrap photos from my birthday a few years ago. Hubby got us tickets to see my favorite band, Coldplay at Irvine Meadows.

I was totally inspired by the made in minutes sketches in this month's issue of Scrabooks Etc. I used the one on pg 84 for this layout and of course switched it up a bit. I am a die hard print subscriber. I love my happy mail and love supporting magazines like Scrapbook Etc, Creating Keepsakes, Cards and Scrapbook Trends to name a few. These magazines showcase everyday scrapbookers and give women the confidence they might not have found by publishing their work and I just have to continue to support anything that makes women feel good about themselves!

March's KOTM is available and these images are ADORABLE! Have a peek

And...Unity has a new challenge blog! Once a month we'll be issuing a challenge for you to play along with! You can click the image to find out all the details for this fun way to get inky with your Unity images.

Now head on over to Miss Brooke! I am sure she has something lovely for you today!

For Eryn...

Monday, March 7, 2011

Hello friends! Thanks for stopping by my blog for Eryn's farewell  Blog Hop that started at the Ippity Blog. I met Eryn at Winter CHA in 2009 when I got a "golden" ticket to the trade show from Angela @ Unity Stamp Co.

That ticket turned out to be life changing (thanks Ang) and so did meeting these girls. {Ack!! did I really have all that hair back then?? ROFL}

Here's a little card I made for miss Eryn to let her know how special she is to me! I used the cute stacked cups image from February's KOTM The best is yet to be!

I will miss Eryn but I am so happy for her journey and I will be watching her fly! Make sure you visit Eryn's website Vintage Glam. She has some beautiful things that make perfect gifts for the special people in your life!

This is not goodbye miss Eryn!! I {heart} you sweet girl!
