Hip Hop Happy Thanksgiving!

Wednesday, November 21, 2012

Hello Hip Hop friends. It's Thanksgiving and I have so much to be thanful for. For today's post I'm giving thanks starting with you... Thank you for stopping by my blog each week. You may not know it but I read all of the comments you leave each week and I thank you for them from the bottom of my heart. It's so nice that you take the time to leave them and I just want you to know that they really warm my heart.

Today Unity is Hip Hopping along for Thanksgiving day with lots of fun projects created by the Unity Design Team. I am so honored to be a part of the Unity team. I am always in awe of my fellow designers and their creative abilities. I'm also thankful for their open and giving hearts. These ladies are all so very special. Finally, I am hunbled by all that Chris and Angela give to me and so many others. Unity is a family I am so blessed to be a part of.

For today's post I am creating with the November SMAK kit.

Aren't these images amazing! I decide to create some fun tags with a couple of the images from this awesome kit.

For this tag I used some Simple Stories patterned paper and added texture using an embossing folder
on my tag along with some inks. I layered Imaginisce i-Top punches and to finish I added some ribbon and buttons.

For this tag I used a Spellbinder die, Simple Stories paper along with some seam binding and a fabulous jeweled brad from Eyelet Outlet.

These tags were so fun to create and I'll be using them to tie on a few of my gifts this year under our tree. We are getting a REAL Christmas tree this year! I am so excited I can hardly wait to go pick it out. The last time I had a real Christmas tree was 1992.

Make sure you leave a comment on each
and every one of the blogs in today's hop!
You could be one of the 3 winners
of a $20 Unity gift certificate!

For a complete list head to the Unity blog.

Now I am sending you over to Thienly

Unity Brown Thursday

Wednesday, November 14, 2012

Hello Hip Hoppers! You know how much Unity likes to mix it up so this week we have the entire team creating for you. Make sure you stop at the Unity blog first so you don't miss any of today's news and happenings!

Here's what's happening

$1 from each sale will help feed the hungry

And
when you spend...

And even better! You can get...

Fun stuff right? Well I had fun this week too! It's Brown Thursday so the Design Team created projects using brown or kraft paper. I took some of the brown that comes to my house from the man in brown and built my mixed media layout on it.

Forever Our Princess
by: Shemaine Smith

I really love the sentiments in Unity's SMAK kits.

Did you see what you get today if you spend $60??

Now I want to share a fun idea using this special set for your holiday gift giving. Keeping with our brown theme here is a fun idea for gift packaging using brown lunch sacks.  Cut 2 inches off the top and punch with a Martha Stewart deep edge punch to transform this plain sack into a fun gift bag. Then you just embellish it with your favorite pattern paper and dies! I used some Simple Stories paper, Spellbinders die and Martha Stewart border punch to create a fun bag and card set.

Another tip for dressing up your bag: Try adhering two of the same punches like I did here with the {Martha Stewart Snowflake punch} with twine and a glue dot for a fun decorative accent to your gift bags.

Finish with a gem or bling of your choice and voila!
Cuteness huh?

Well that's all from me today friends so I am going to send you on over to

Shilo!

Product Scoop: Washi Sheets

Tuesday, November 13, 2012

I love designing for We R Memory Keepers. Not only do I get to create with the most awesome products ever but they ask me to do fun assignments like their Product Scoops. A couple of  months ago I was asked to create a layout using our new Washi Tape Sheets and the beautiful Antique Chic collection.

I wanted to show how easy the sheets were to use on layouts and create your own embellishments with.  Here's a layout I created using the black, yellow and grey Washi sheets.

Teddy
by: Shemaine Smith

I used a 3 x 11 3/4 strip of the Washi sheet as a border to build off of. Then it was easy to use the photo frame die from Papertrey Ink for framing these sweet photos taken of my daughter and her beloved "teddy". I used Therm-O-Web 3D foam squares to pop one of them off my page.

The Washi sheets are easy to cut in your paper trimmer.

They are also easy to apply over patterned cardstock and cut with dies like this one from Papertrey Ink.

It was so easy to create these butterfly embellishments from the Washi sheet and paper. To finish it off, added one of the fabric buttons from the Antique chic collection.

I really like the We R Memory Keepers Washi sheets. The possibilities really are endless as to what you can create.

Check out more of the Antique Chic collection and all our Washi Sheet styles at the We R Memory Keepers Website.

MLS and Epiphany Crafts

Hello friends! I'm so excited that we teamed up with Epiphany Crafts this week. They have such a fun and unique variety of embellies that you can create yourself. Love that! For my project I altered a mini chalk board with our Vintage Shop collection.

First I used washi tape to protect the chalkboard while I painted the outside frame with some Martha Stewart paint.

After the paint dried it was easy to embellish the frame using our Muse alphabet stickers and the Vintage Shop cardstock stickers.

I used the Epiphany Crafts circle  tool to create my own epoxy brads using our paper for the design. Here's a closer look at my brads and tissue paper flowers.

To create your own flowers all you need is some tissue paper, 1 1/2 scalloped punch, Martha Stewart circle punch with edges and some Stickles.

Now I'm gonna send you over to my team mate, Pattie Beltran's blog to see what she's created too!

Oh and don't forget to visit the Epiphany blog today to see what their talented designers have created for you.

Thanks for stopping by!
