ReUse and ReCycle

Wednesday, December 3, 2008

I have to admit, I got on the band wagon a few months back and now I am a nut about recycling things and reusing them! My poor son now has to make more than one trip to the trash each morning now that I started separating the recycling. I'd like to show you a great way to reuse packaging you probably have in your scrap stash. Take these Thickers for instance

I took them out of the plastic package and resealed the bottom and cut off the top for my opening. Then I placed some decorative paper pieces that come in many cut colors at most craft stores in the bottom and placed the handmade frame ornament I made for a gift inside. Tie some ribbon for a fancy look and add a gift tag and Voila!

I find a lot of my embellishments come in these types of bags and they are great for a quick and easy gift wrap. I don't know if you are into homemade gifts but I think they are the best! I whipped up this little gift by adding a snowman and some felt snowflakes and bling to a Chatterbox frame in ivory. I tied a ribbon thru the back of the snowman button perfect for hanging on the tree! This project took me less than 15 mins. Embellished picture frames are super fast and easy. All you need is a frame, embellishments, glue gun and some ribbon. I'd love to see some of your handmade crafts so post your link in the comments section of this post.

Remember tmr is the Hip Hop over at Unity Stamps. Angela is always super generous with all her fantastic Hip Hop Specials! I can hardly wait to see what this week's specials will be. Plus the DT does a hop from blog to blog with a chance to win some great blog candy and we meet up in the Split Coast Forum for all day chatting here!

I made this layout for the Weds Unity Addicts Challenge. This week's challenge was to use your Unity Stamps to create a scrapbook layout. I usually don't scrap this pink but for some reason this is how I pictured my layout for this challenge in my head. Lots of pink!

I've been making some Christmas cards and projects this week I'll be showing you more of later this week. Here's a card I made the the Hero Blog challenge. I love this little penguin stamp by Hero Arts

Materials: CTMH exclusive inks outdoor denim, crystal blue and matching card stock. Stamp: Warm Winter Wishes by Hero Arts, Martha Stewart snowflake punch, felt snowflakes, ribbon, funky fibers and bling.
