Albums Made Easy Monday

Monday, October 28, 2013

Hello friends! I'm back from my weekend teaching at Stitch Craft and Create Live in Charlotte NC and had a wonderful time. If you have never visited Charlotte, I highly recommend it. The city was so beautiful and clean. I enjoyed eating at some fabulous restaurants and walking around downtown Charlotte after my classes.

I was really excited to teach an introduction to Albums Made Easy and share some ideas for adding your own style to the journal cards and inserts. We covered some tips like using your scraps, utilizing stamped images like the ones shown in my samples from Unity Stamp Company's monthly SMAK kits, die cut images, washi tape and more! Here's is a look at the Album Pages we created during the class with the ever so popular Chalkboard collection.

Here's a few snaps from class!

Albums Made Easy Monday

Monday, October 21, 2013

Hello friends! For this week's Albums Made Easy tip I wanted to share that you don't have to just use the Albums Made Easy inserts for your albums. There are many sheets of 12 x 12 paper in our different collections that have great designs on them and would make great backgrounds. Like this sheet of Potion patterned paper from Bewitched.

The process is quick and easy. Cut the strip off the bottom of the cardstock with the label. The cut the paper 4x12 and then again at 6 inches. You will now have 2 4x6 pieces. Now round the corners and set aside. Next cut the paper again at 4 x 12 and then cut the strip at 3 inches 4 times. You will now have 4 3x4 inserts. Finally cut what's left of the cardstock at 6 inches and round all the corners again. Slip them into your photo sleeve as shown below.

Now you are ready to embellish the page as you desire. Here's what I did with mine.

Use the Bewitched coordinating sticker sheets and a die cuts to create a quick insert like this one.

I used some pop dots on the cauldron to have it stand out from the sticker of the cute witch.
Make sure if you are using pop dots they aren't too think as the page protectors won't allow for really thick ones.

This is also a great way to use up things in your stash that you have been hoarding like me. This fun little guy is only about 3 years old...glad he finally found his place in my scrapbooking.

That's a wrap on today's tip. I don't have a video today because I was busy re-certifying for my American Red Cross infant and child CPR this morning!  If you have children, it's great to be certified so that in an emergency you will know what to do.

I do however have a giveaway today!

I got some of the Albums Made Easy inserts from our Bewitched collection and would love to get them out to one lucky commenter.

Leave a comment or question and I'll announce the winner next Monday!

Have a creative day!

Anna Griffin Winter Wonderland Cricut Cartridge Creations

Saturday, October 19, 2013

Hello friends and thanks for stopping by! I wanted to share my Anna Griffin Winter Wonderland Cricut creations and share some tips I learned while working with this beautiful new cartridge.

First, I loved creating with this cartridge and found the images easy to cut out and assemble. I loved all the layers and the designs.

For gluing the pieces together, I found that using a liquid glue pen was best.

Adding some Crystal Stickles to the Poinsettia was a great way to make this card sparkle.

Layering the same images over one another with foam dots really helped this Mistletoe come off the card.

I used silver Stickles on random parts of this deer to make him stand out.

Cutting patterned paper in the same colors helped these snowflakes be the focal point of the card.

The 3D Christmas tree was easier than you think. Cut 3 trees out and score 2 if them. Match two of the folds up in the middle and them adhere that piece over the remaining tree die and adhere to the card.

I hope these tips were helpful. Make sure you share your Winter Wonderland creations on Anna's Facebook wall. We love to see what you are creating with her beautiful products. Make sure you visit Anna's blog as well, she has had some amazing giveaways before her shows on HSN. You don't want to miss out!

I love to see what you are creating too, so feel free to link up your work so I can come by and visit!

Have a creative day!

Albums Made Easy Monday

Monday, October 14, 2013

Hello and thanks for stopping by for Albums Made Easy Monday. It's October and We R Memory Keepers is featuring the Bewitched collection all month long. I don't know about you, but Halloween is my favorite month next to Christmas. It's not about the scary stuff, but rather planning what my daughter and son are going to dress up as, decorating our house and spending time as a family going out to the annual Halloween Frolic and trick or treating.

This week's tip is for the 4x6 Journal cards. I told you how I love to trick them up and I found a great way to help me design some fun ones.

I love the inspiration I find at the Reverse Confetti blog and I especially love their monthly sketch for you to try feature.
So I took this week's sketch and used it as the inspiration for my journal card.

Here's how I used it in this week's 2 page Albums Made Easy spread

Halloween 2012

For my process, I like to choose my photos first. For a 2 page spread I print 4 4x6 photos and 4 3x4 photos. Then I choose my journal cards and let my creativity go. I didn't copy the sketch exactly but rather adapted it for my design. For the circles I used a 1" pointed circle punch by Martha Stewart (one of my most faves) and some fun Punky Sprouts lil seeds buttons with twine bows.

I hope you'll find this tip useful and will give it a try! I'd love to see what you come up with so please link up your Albums Made Easy or Project Life pages so I can stop by and take a look.

Here's this week's video

Albums Made Easy Monday

Monday, October 7, 2013

Hello and thanks for stopping by for today's Albums Made Easy Monday. Last week we covered the Albums Made Easy products and different photo sleeves and journaling card sets that are available for you to create with from We R memory Keepers.

Today I wanted to share a little about my process for creating Albums Made Easy pages. These pages can be as simple or as elaborate as you choose. You can create pockets to add memorabilia, use die cuts, stickers and a large variety of other embellishments to create your pages that tell the story of your photos.

When I am creating my AME pages, I first choose which of my photos I am going to work with and print them. I have 2 photo printers. An HP 5510 All in One Printer and a Cannon Selphy. I love printing at home because I can edit and alter my photos any way I like. I purchase my ink from Staples and use their Rewards card to keep the cost down. I purchase my photo paper at Costco. You get 150 sheets of 8 1/2 x 11 sheets for $20.00. It's a great deal.

Since I am using this photo sleeve today, you can see there are pockets for 4 4x6 photos and 4 3x4 photos. I typically like to use 2 full 4x6 and 2 full 3x4 photos for my page.

Next I chose my journaling cards. The AME kits are loaded with such a great variety of journaling cards I like to choose which ones I want to use and arrange them in the photo sleeves.

Next I decide if I want to alter any of them. Today I chose to alter the top Right 4x6 card with some solid cardstock cut at 2x6 and rounded at the bottom corners. I then added a strip of Washi Tape and a few banner stickers from the Chalkboard sticker sheet. This made it easy to add a title for my story

This is a quick and easy alter of one of the 4x6 journaling cards and adds a title to your page.

Now I am ready to slide in the rest of my photos and add some journaling to the journal tag.

The Insta-fun tag is perfect for adding another photo so I printed one and backed it with cardstock cut 1/4 larger that the photo so it would have the matted look.

So there you have today's page. I'd love to see how you are creating your Albums Made Easy pages so please link them to the comments so I can stop by and take a look.

Now for the moment you've all been waiting for...last week's winner of my giveaway! Watch the video to see who won.
Disclaimer: I just got back from my morning walk :)

Today's winner can email me at shemainesmith22@gmail.com with their address and I'll get your prize out to you.
